Family Camps

Let the children play!

What to expect

Now more than ever we need community.  At the farm, we will together create a sense of home whilst away from home on holiday.

There will be games and workshops for adults, children and young people in green woodwork, felting, basketry, gardening and cooking, creative writing, clay play, drumming, singing for adults and children, circus skills, yoga and much, much more.

Feedback from previous camps tells us that you'd also welcome more space to 'just be' so we will give more space for enjoying the land and down time.

Options for local walks, and trips to swim in the river, time with the farm animals, night walks, sleep out in bivy bags if you wish to under the stars and space to dream.

Daily land and farm activity will be taking place that you are welcome to join in with - cider bottling,  bringing in the hay, the mass potato harvest!

Evenings of storytelling and live music, candlelit cinema in the cob barn and friendships sealed at the Dock & Thistle! our very own pop up bar and tuck shop.

There will be onsite massage therapies available with the ever so lovley Lotte Norgaard Holistic Massage you can pre-book directly with her at lotteholisticmassage@gmail.com

WE WILL COOK FOR YOU! Family Camps are fully catered using our organic produce and consumed in our beautiful barn dining area.

"wonderful food, we really appreciated the thought love and energy that went into the food"

"really top quality- our little boy loved eating with everyone and trying different foods, such a treat to be catered for by such wonderful cooks - thank you!"

We foster a community culture and ask that all families come prepared to be of service to the whole by helping out with washing up, chopping veg and any other camp care tasks. This will be initiated with a 'sign up to help out' rota system.

The Dock & Thistle tuck shop will sell a range of snacks and campsite provisions (this is a CASH ONLY BAR)

Our mini library (beautifully made by two 2021 camp participants) stocks a range of  books and games for you to borrow while on the farm.

We welcome your gifts and skills, so if you have a workshop you'd like to run or space to hold then get in touch, we create community together!

Bring your own tents, or caravans/vans (we do not have electricity hook ups) and we will help site you in our camping areas on the farm.

Or alternatively

HIRE ONE OF OUR BELL TENTS

They cost £100 and will be put up for you and taken down. They come with single comfortable matreeses only so bring all your own bedding and lights.

"We absolutely loved it. The setting was beautiful, and there was plenty of shade or shelter when it was very hot or raining. The hosts were really welcoming, and the meals and snacks were delicious and healthy with simple options for fussy kids. There was so much for the kids to do even before the activities, with hay bales, ropes, ping-pong to play on, and of course other children to play with. I enjoyed being able to socialise and connect with the other parents. The very best treat that I didn't see coming was how available I was for my children, with all the food sorted and lovely activities laid on (and no phone reception), I had so much relaxed time and attention to give my children. We all want to come back."

"There is something really magical about what is created by the team at On The Hill - i've not experienced anything quite like it. The energy, care and community building that is put in by each team member is quite phenomenal. It left us always feeling safe, comfortable, engaged, relaxed and very, very well fed. I would recommend Family Camps for families of all shapes and sizes, wanting to spend time together, or doing separate activities, exploring, relaxing, learning, getting to know people - all with no sense of pressure. I want to recommend Family Camps to all the families I know! And have done...."
