HILL TRIBE 2021
A new 'Rites of Passage' programme for 12-16 year olds.
3rd - 9th August 2021
In response to the uncertain times in which we find ourselves, the On The Hill team want to help young people meet the present and the future with joy, a sense of connection, capacity, courage and creativity.
Hill Tribe is an open programme for individual young people. For six days, away from the pressures and stresses of everyday life we will camp up on the hill around a fire, living with the elements.
Would you like to live outside on a hill in beautiful countryside?
Do you care about the living world?
Do you want to discuss the challenging issues of this time?
Can you work and play hard?
Do you want to express your creativity?
Do you want to to do dangerous things safely?
Do you want to develop some real-life skills?
Do you long for some stillness?
We will create a tribe.
We will work respectfully with individual's wishes to push their own boundaries.
We will support you to be yourself, not what others want you to be.
We will support you to be yourself, not what you think you should be.
We will thoroughly enjoy ourselves.
And together, at the end of the programme we will celebrate our collective experience.
A group of young people will be living, eating, creating, working, singing, dreaming and much more for six days with our wonderful, experienced, and passionate On the Hill staff at Oxen Park Farm.
Cost per participant £550
It is our intention, and grounded in our values to make programmes accessible to folks regardless of income. We would love to offer bursary places for Hill Tribe, however the level of reduced cost places is dependant on a number of parents/carers who can afford it to pay extra in order to subsidise the place of another young person. Do get in touch if you can meet this call.
“Children can’t learn about the world, or their place in it, if they are not encouraged to step out of their comfort zone and to take risks safely,”
